FOOT BRAKE MANUAL CONTROL

REMOVAL

I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION

• Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle: Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
• Remove the centre console (see Centre console: Removal - Refitting) (MR 416, 57A, Interior equipment).

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART CONCERNED

• Remove the adjustment nut (1) to completely loosen the parking brake cable.
• Separate the parking brake cable from the parking brake compensator (2) .
• Disconnect the connector (3) from the parking brake switch.
• Remove:
  • the nuts (4) from the parking brake lever,
  • the parking brake lever.

REFITTING

I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED

• Refit:
  • the parking brake lever,
  • the parking brake lever nuts.
• Torque tighten the parking brake lever nuts (14 N.m).
• Connect:
  • the parking brake switch connector,
  • the parking brake cable to the parking brake compensator.
• Refit the adjustment nut.

II - FINAL OPERATION.

• Adjust the parking brake (see 37A, Mechanical component controls, Parking brake lever: Adjustment, page 37A-38) .
• Refit the centre console (see Centre console: Removal - Refitting) (MR 416, 57A, Interior equipment).
