REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Set the wheels straight ahead.
| IMPORTANT
To prevent the pyrotechnic components from
being permanently deactivated or triggered (airbags
or pretensioners), wait for at least 3 min
after disconnecting the battery. |
- Disconnect the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery:
Removal - Refitting, page 80A-3) .
- Remove:
- the driver's front airbag (see 88C, Air bag and Pretensioners,
Driver's frontal airbag: Removal -
Refitting, page 88C-10) ,
- the steering wheel (see Steering wheel: Removal
- Refitting) (36A, Steering assembly).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Remove the bolts (1) from the cover under the steering
wheel.
- Unclip:
- the upper half of the cover (2) under the steering
wheel,
- the lower half of the cover (3) under the steering
wheel.
- Remove:
- the radio control satellite nut (4) ,
- the radio control satellite (5) .
- Disconnect the radio control satellite connector.
- Unclip the lower half of the cover (6) under the steering
wheel.
- Remove the rotary switch bolts (7) .
- Unclip the rotary switch.
- Disconnect the rotary switch connectors (8) .
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
Always replace the steering wheel nut.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
| WARNING
To prevent damaging the rotary switch, do not
turn the mobile section of the rotary switch. |
- Connect the rotary switch connectors.
- Refit:
- the rotary switch,
- the rotary switch bolts.
- Adjust the neutral position of the rotary switch:
- turn the rotary switch carefully clockwise as far as it
will go,
- turn the rotary switch anticlockwise (approximately
two and a half turns),
- stop rotating at (A) .
- Refit the lower half of the cover under the steering
wheel.
- Connect the radio control satellite connector.
- Refit:
- the radio control satellite,
- the radio control satellite nut,
- the lower half of the cover under the steering
wheel,
- the upper half of the cover under the steering
wheel,
- the bolts of the cover under the steering wheel.
III - FINAL OPERATION.
- Refit:
- the steering wheel (see Steering wheel: Removal
- Refitting) (36A, Steering assembly),
- the driver's front airbag (see 88C, Air bag and Pretensioners,
Driver's frontal airbag: Removal -
Refitting, page 88C-10) .
- Connect the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery: Removal
- Refitting, page 80A-3) .
