Engine mounting

REMOVAL

I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION

  • Position the vehicle on a two-post lift.
  • Remove:
    • the engine cover,
    • the fuel filter ,
    • the manual priming pump.

Engine mounting

  • Unclip the wiring of the manual priming pump support at (1) .
  • Remove:
    • the support bolt (2) of the manual priming pump,
    • the manual priming pump support.

Engine mounting

  • Unclip the fuel pipes from the fuel pipe support at (3) .
  • Move aside the fuel pipes.
  • Remove:
    • the fuel pipe support bolt (4) ,
    • the fuel pipe support,
    • the engine undertray,
    • the front axle subframe.
WARNING It is strictly forbidden to apply any pressure to the engine oil sump. Damage to the sump will irreparably damage the engine by:
  • blocking the strainer,
  • raising the oil level above maximum, with a risk of engine racing.

6-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX

Engine mounting

  • Support the engine on the tool (Mot. 1390) at (5) .

6-SPEED AUTOMATIC GEARBOX

Engine mounting

  • Support the engine on the tool (Mot. 1390) at (6) .

 

  • Lower the vehicle slightly to relieve the pressure on the right-hand suspended engine mounting rubber pad.

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART CONCERNED

Engine mounting

  • Remove:
    • the bolt (7) from the upper engine tie-bar and the rubber mounting bush,
    • the bolt (8) from the upper engine tie-bar on the body,
    • the bolts (9) from the right-hand suspended engine mounting on the engine,
    • the right-hand suspended engine mounting bolts (10) on the body,
    • the right-hand suspended engine mounting.

REFITTING

I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED

  • Fit the right-hand suspended engine mounting.
  • Refit the right-hand suspended engine mounting bolts on the body.

Engine mounting

  • Refit and manually tighten the right-hand suspended engine mounting bolts on the engine (3) .
  • Torque tighten in order the right-hand suspended engine mounting bolts on the engine (55 N.m).

Engine mounting

  • Torque tighten in order the right-hand suspended engine mounting bolts on the body (55 N.m).
  • Refit:
    • the upper engine tie-bar,
    • the upper engine tie-bar bolt on the body.
  • Manually tighten the upper engine tie-bar bolt on the body.
  • Remove the tool (Mot. 1390).
  • Refit:
    • the front axle subframe.
    • the upper engine tie-bar with the rubber mounting bush,
    • the upper engine tie-bar bolt on the engine.
  • Manually tighten the upper engine tie-bar bolt on the engine.
  • Torque tighten in order:
    • the upper engine tie-bar bolt on the engine (120 N.m),
    • the upper engine tie-bar bolt on the body (120 N.m).

II - FINAL OPERATION

  • Refit the engine undertray.
  • Refit the fuel pipe support.
  • Refit the fuel pipe support bolt.
  • Torque tighten the fuel pipe support bolt (12 N.m).
  • Clip on the fuel pipes on the fuel pipe support.
  • Refit:
    • the manual priming pump support,
    • the support bolt of the manual priming pump.
  • Torque tighten the support bolt of the manual priming pump (12 N.m).
  • Clip the wiring on the manual priming pump support.
  • Refit:
    • the manual priming pump
    • the fuel filter
    • the engine cover.
  • Prime the diesel circuit using the manual priming pump.

Engine mounting

IMPORTANT To prevent the vehicle from falling, lash it to the vehicle lift using a strap.

 

IMPORTANT Wear protective gloves during the operation.

REMOVAL

I - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART CONCERNED

  • Position the vehicle on a two-post lift .
  • Remove the engine cover.

Engine mounting

Note: To ensure complete stability, place a piece of wood or equivalent on the bearing surface.

 

Note: To ensure complete stability, place an object behind the trolley jack or an equivalent piece of equipment to provide support.
  • Place the trolley jack (1) or an equivalent engine supporting tool under the cylinder block.

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART CONCERNED

Engine mounting

  • Remove:
    • the upper engine tie-bar bolts (2) ,
    • the upper engine tie-bar (3) .

Engine mounting

  • Remove in order the right-hand suspended engine mounting bolts.

Engine mounting

  • Remove the nut (4) from the expansion bottle.
Note: Do not disconnect the lower coolant pipe from the expansion bottle.

 

Note: Temporarily secure the expansion bottle to the side of the engine.

Engine mounting

  • Rotate a quarter-turn anticlockwise the right-hand suspended engine mounting (5) as shown on the diagram.
  • Remove the right-hand suspended engine mounting.

REFITTING

I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION

  • Always replace the upper engine tie-bar bolt washer.

II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED

  • Refit:
    • the right-hand suspended engine mounting,
    • the expansion bottle nut,
    • the right-hand suspended engine mounting bolts.
  • Torque tighten the expansion bottle nut4 (N.m).

Engine mounting

  • Torque tighten in order the right-hand suspended engine mounting bolts (55 N.m).
  • Refit:
    • the upper engine tie-bar,
    • the upper engine tie-bar bolts.
  • Torque tighten the upper engine tie-bar bolts (120 N.m).

III - FINAL OPERATION

  • Remove the trolley jack or equivalent engine supporting tool from underneath the cylinder block.
  • Refit the engine cover.
    2TR, and ND5 or ND8
